Matt Naylor
Chairman & CEO
Matt is responsible for Evolve’s creative vision and strategy. Matt has extensive experience in employee benefits, risk management and retail and wholesale brokerage and advisory services. Matt uses his deep industry expertise, relationships and experience to ensure Evolve delivers exceptional products and services to its clients. Matt began his career in 1995 when he joined his family’s general business insurance agency. Shortly thereafter he became CEO and expanded the business from a single operating entity into several successful firms, including an early stop-loss underwriting business, which was sold to Houston International Insurance Group in 2014.
Matt received a Bachelor of Science from Drexel University in 1995. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Drexel University and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for AIM Academy. Matt is active in the Young President’s Organization and a member of YPO International. He is involved with industry associations including the Self Insured Institute of America (SIIA), the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (CIAB), the Society of Professional Benefits Administrators (SPBA) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Brian McTear
President
Brian uses his operational, transactional and legal experience to lead Evolve’s day-to-day operations. Brian joined Evolve in 2016. Brian was previously Senior Vice President at Preferred Sands, a provider of silica sand and technology products to the oil and gas industry, where he was a member of the senior leadership team and had responsibility for new product development, corporate development and legal matters. Brian was previously a Partner at Blank Rome, LLP, where he advised public and private companies as well as private equity firms and their portfolio companies on sophisticated business, corporate, and transactional matters.
Brian earned a B.S. in Psychology at Ursinus College and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Widener University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of the law review. He has served as a guest lecturer at Temple University and Drexel University on entrepreneurism, has numerous legal publications, and was named to SmartCEO Magazine’s Legal Elite list and recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine. He is Chair of the Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation and was a past Vice Chairman of the imPACT venture capital conference.
Jake Willcox
Executive Vice President & Chief Relationship Officer
Jake works closely with Evolve’s team and clients to ensure that they are getting the best available products on the market in a transparent way that provides our clients with efficient and cost-effective coverage under their unique circumstances. Jake joined in 2014 as an Executive Vice President in charge of Sales and Vendor and Client Relations. Previously, Jake was a Sales and Business Development Vice President at The Pension Company from 2008-2011, structuring annuities for claimants of large personal injury lawsuits. Jake also founded Legaltronix, an online cloud based resource for claims adjusters and lawyers to rate, review, and schedule mediations. He raised capital, ran the company, and developed relationships with 10 large national insurance carriers. Jake earned a B.A. in Business Administration from Loyola University.
Rob Adams
CFO
Rob oversees Crumdale’s financial strategy, accounting and elements of our agency acquisition process. Rob has over 20 years of broad investment and financial experience including venture capital, business strategy development and implementation, financial analysis and modeling, and M&A. Rob also has extensive experience in corporate governance, having served on fifteen boards of both private and public companies.
Rob is Founding Partner of NextStage Capital, a seed and early stage venture fund, where he built a portfolio of sixteen technology investments with both equity and debt capital. Prior to that he was a Principal and Vice President of Safeguard Scientifics where he was instrumental in the development of numerous technology companies from early stage through public entity. While there he sourced, structured, and negotiated over $100M in investments, and $380M in mergers, acquisitions, and exits. Rob began his career in the Entrepreneurial Services division of Ernst & Young. He earned an MBA with distinction from the University of Michigan and a BA in Economics from Skidmore College.
Joe Sweeney
COO
Joe is the Chief Operating Officer of Crumdale. He has been involved in the Insurance industry on the Financial and Operations parts of the business for close to 20 years. During his career, he has served in leadership positions as both the CFO and COO of agencies, insurance carriers and Managing General Underwriters. He has also been involved in numerous acquisitions and divestitures in the insurance space. He prides himself on not only being a part of teams that buy and sell businesses, but helping to position those businesses to grow and operate efficiently.
Joe earned his B.S. in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from Temple University. He is also a licensed CPA in the state of Pennsylvania.
